Step aboard The Golden Hinde this February half-term and meet the people who once lived and worked at sea. With costumed Tudor crew, lively storytelling and plenty to explore, it’s a hands-on history adventure for the whole family.
Looking for things to do with kids in London this February half-term? Visit The Golden Hinde in Southwark and come face-to-face with our resident Tudor crew as they bring life aboard an Elizabethan ship vividly to life.
During your visit, you’ll meet three fascinating characters from the age of exploration: the Pilot, the Gunner and the Barber Surgeon. Each will share what their role was really like on board and invite you to take part in fun, interactive mini-talks where you can learn their skills and stories first-hand. Talks take place at 11:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 15:00, and are included with your general admission.
The crew talks together last around 45 minutes, and they’re drop-in friendly - you’re welcome to stay for the full set or dip in and out as it suits your day. After the talks, you can continue exploring the ship at your own pace: climb the decks, head below, and imagine what life was like on a voyage around the world. Most visitors spend 45-90 minutes onboard, but you’re free to stay longer if you wish.
Located close to Borough Market and Shakespeare’s Globe, The Golden Hinde is easy to combine with a wider day out on Bankside.
