Roll up your sleeves, raise the anchor and man the guns!! Prepare to set sail on a deadly three-year circumnavigation of the globe and do battle with the mighty Spanish empire.

Explore The Golden Hinde and immerse yourself in the world of Sir Francis Drake. Our costumed tour guides bring history to life as you uncover the lived experience of sailors on a Elizabethan galleon and discover the nature of Drake’s role in a dynamic Early Modern world.

The Francis Drake Tour is designed specifically to complement your curriculum, unpicking Drake’s relationship to the wider historical landscape and the impact of his voyage. Through a fully interactive experience, your students are encouraged to imagine life at sea and utilise the reconstructed Golden Hinde as a valuable source of historical information.

Drake & The Armada

Discover the exciting story of the Armada and its place in history. The Armada Experience aboard The Golden Hinde is designed to breathe life into a pivotal moment in English history through interactive maps, demonstrations and re-enactments.

Our costumed tour guides will take your students around the Golden Hinde to discover life onboard an Elizabethan Galleon and encourage students to apply that knowledge to the context of 1588.
