Mini Frost Fair: Craft in Wood with Robert Grieves
Saturday 31 January, 2-4pm
The Hold of The Golden Hinde
FREE
Sessions: 2-3pm, 3-4pm
Step aboard a wooden galleon in the heart of London and take part in a hands-on Willow-Doodling workshop inspired by the spirit of Frost Fair.
A free drop-in space of ‘intuitive craft’, where everyone’s invited to play, create and doodle with willow.
Join London-based wood sculptor Robert Grieves for a relaxed, creative session exploring the beauty of willow in the atmospheric surroundings of our timbered Hold. This Frost Fair workshop is a chance to slow down, warm up, and make something by hand in a space built entirely of wood. Surrounded by the ship’s beams, you’ll find inspiration in both the setting and the long tradition of craft that once filled winter fairs along the Thames. And when your hands need a break, the Frost Fair Tavern is close by, serving warming drinks and hot chocolate to mark National Hot Chocolate Day - the perfect companion to a cosy afternoon of making.
Expect an informal, friendly session with plenty of time to experiment, ask questions, and get Willow-Doodling.
