Take over The Golden Hinde for a full night and become the crew. Through immersive, hands-on activities and role-play, students experience life as 16th Century mariners while developing teamwork, lateral thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Dinner and breakfast are provided.

What to Expect

Led by characters from the ship’s past, students explore the vessel while tackling authentic Elizabethan challenges. Activities include navigation with the ship’s Master, fast-paced gun drills with the Gunner, and encounters with the Barber Surgeon.

Each session is designed to encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and practical problem solving, with clear links to STEM concepts such as navigation, measurement, and decision-making at sea - all grounded in historical context.

Students and teachers will sleep on the ship’s Gun Deck  as the original crew would have done in the 16th Century.

Pre- and post-visit resources support enquiry, reflection, and classroom learning.
