50th Appeal
One ship, two histories. The amazing history of the original Golden Hinde, and of the replica ship helps us to truly understand our Elizabethan history. Today The Golden Hinde is an incredible educational resource and offers an engaging experience to our visitors.
Since 1973, the ship has sailed many oceans, completed a circumnavigation, and been visited by millions of people in many different countries.
Every year, it costs £150,000 to maintain the ship in the way it would have existed in the 16th century using master craftspeople and boatbuilders from around the globe.
We're celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Golden Hinde's launch with a fundraising campaign to raise much-needed funds.
Your donation and support helps to ensure that this historic ship will continue to educate and entertain visitors from London, the UK and across the world for the next 50 years.
Find out more about the building of the current ship.
The Golden Hinde is an independent museum. We are not a registered charity but reinvest all profits back into our organisation.

Donate to our 50th Anniversary Appeal
All donations make a difference to help us stay open to visitors and schools. Please support our appeal with a donation of any size to secure our future for the next 50 years.
The Re-rig Crowdfunding Appeal
Without replacing our rigging over the next 2 years, we will no longer be able to open to the public, as we need the ship to be safe for our visitors. We need your help to re-rig The Golden Hinde.
The Circumnavigation Challenge
The Golden Hinde has been on many adventures since her launch, completing a circumnavigation and sailing even further than the original ship. Support us your way by raising money with your own circumnavigation. Find out more and download the Fundraising Pack.
Creative Competition for Schools - The competition has now closed
Take part in our fun and creative competition to celebrate our 50th anniversary. The prize is a free one-hour tour for one primary and secondary class so your students can experience one of our Educational Programmes.

Secondary Schools: Students write a poem using the theme of sailing or the sea.
The Deadline to submit entries is the 22nd May 2023, and the winners will be announced by the 31st May 2023.
Leave us a Legacy
We know how passionate many of our visitors are about The Golden Hinde, and about the UK’s extraordinary maritime history. Would you consider leaving us a small legacy in your will? A gift, no matter what size, will make a real difference to the museum.
Attend one of our events
Celebrate the 50th at one of our events. We will soon be adding new events to our 'What's on' section, including upcoming Shipyard Tours so you can hear about the refit and why your support is much needed, as well as other exciting activities throughout 2023.
