Doors 7.30pm | Start 8.00pm
Join us aboard The Golden Hinde for an intimate evening with Friction Farm, the acclaimed Americana-folk duo whose songs blend rich storytelling, social commentary, humour and hope.
Husband-and-wife team Aidan Quinn and Christine Stay have spent more than a decade touring the world as modern-day troubadours, performing everywhere from folk clubs and festivals to concert halls across Europe, North America, Japan and South Africa. Drawing on backgrounds rooted in the activist traditions of Berkeley and Woodstock, their songwriting explores everyday life, local heroes, human connection and the remarkable stories hidden in ordinary places.
Their music combines intricate harmonies, thoughtful lyrics and memorable melodies, shaped by years of travel and inspired by encounters with people from all walks of life. Whether reflecting on social change, celebrating resilience, or finding beauty in unexpected moments, Friction Farm's songs balance insight with warmth and optimism.
The duo have been Kerrville NewFolk Finalists, Falcon Ridge Emerging Artists and winners of the South Florida Folk Festival Songwriters Competition. Their latest album, Stone By Stone, debuted at #3 on the US Folk DJ Chart, further cementing their reputation as one of contemporary folk music's most engaging live acts.
With more than a thousand performances to their name, Friction Farm have earned a devoted following for their effortless chemistry, captivating stage presence and deeply human songwriting. Expect exquisite harmonies, compelling stories and songs that move seamlessly between reflection and celebration - all set within the atmospheric timbered hull of London's iconic Tudor galleon.
"Friction Farm were a folk duo with a message, but with a message of the wonder and beauty of life and literature, of exploration and tolerance... they absolutely dazzled us." – L@TR, London
